Emma Raducanu Injury Update: Andre Agassi Shares Encouraging Words as Brit Continues Recovery

American tennis legend Andre Agassi has offered words of encouragement to the former women’s British number one tennis player, Emma Raducanu urging her to be the “best of herself” but not judge that by results as she continues her recovery from an injury and eyes a comeback to the court.

Raducanu broke onto the world stage as an 18-year-old after she won her maiden major, the US Open in 2021 as a qualifier without dropping a set. However, she has not played a single professional match since June 2026 after stressing a stress fracture on her right leg.

The 23-year-old Brit recently spoke about relatibility of Aassi’s well-regarded autobiography Open that was published in 2009, telling Uniqlo: “I was especially intrigued by the passage where he got out of his slump in the late 1990s by creating his own training regiment and finding his way back to the top. It speaks in depth about his early successes and the lows he reached, perhaps as a result of them.”

Now, five years after winning her first major, the eight time grand slam champion Agassi has some words of advice for the British player. “I would encourage her to focus on being the best of herself on a daily basis, but don't judge that by results or thinking that somehow you have to be 100%,” he told BBC in London ahead of the captaining the Team World in the Laver Cup at the O2 Arena in London this weekend.

Agassi leads the Team World, which includes players like Alex de Minaur, Taylor Fritz against Team Europe, which is led by Yannick Noah, and spearheaded by Alexander Zverev and Carlos Alcaraz, this weekend in the Ryder Cup-style event.

Raducanu has meanwhile has confirmed that she has pulled out from the China Open starting next week and she is yet to confirm whether she will return to the court before the end of the 2026 season.
