England Goalkeeper Hannah Hampton Signs New Chelsea Contract Until 2028

England international Hannah Hampton’s contract with Chelsea was set to expire this summer. However, it was key that the club retained her as part of an effort to bounce back after a disappointing 2025-26 campaign.

Since joining Chelsea from Aston Villa in 2023, the England goal keeper, Hampton has established herself as one of the best keepers in the world and cemented her spot as the first choice for the Lionesses. The 25-year-old youngster has won five trophies during her stint in West London and emerged as the standout performer, including playing a key role in England’s Euro 2025 victory.

The young star won the Yashin Trophy for best Goal Keeper at the Ballon d’Or awards in 2025 and joined fellow England international players Lucy Bronze and Aggie Beever-Jones to sign new Chelsea deals this summer.

Speaking about it, Hampton said, ‘I am really happy. Chelsea has always been my dream club to play for in England so to be able to extend for another two years is a proud moment.”

She further added, “When I moved to London from the Midlands, it was my first time moving away from home and everyone at Chelsea made it feel like a home away from home and somewhere I have been able to grow, not only as a player, but as a person. I don’t want that journey to stop and I want to continue to grow more and learn more as a person. I know there is so much more I can achieve and so much more, we as a team, can achieve.”

Hampton was also part of the squad when England won the Euro 2022 championship and reached the Women’s World Cup final in 2023. She played a key role in Chelsea’s unbeaten domestic treble in 2024-25 and has claimed back-to-back Golden Glove awards in WSL.

While many big-names like Millie Bright, Sam Kerr, Guro Reiten left the club at the end of the season, a few other players remained out of contract. In such a situation, Hampton’s contract renewal was vital for Chelsea’s future. Widely regarded as one of the most talented goalkeepers in WSL, this season, Hampton will look to reproduce the form she showed during the Euro 2025.
