The England Women cricket team will go without their star all-rounder and captain, Nat Sciver-Brunt for the next two group stages matches due to a strain on her left calf, as confirmed by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) on Wednesday.

During the match against Ireland on Tuesday, England were cruising towards victory and Sciver-Brunt was at the crease, leading the chase. With the victory almost confirmed and the captain reaching close to another T20 International fifty, the captain chose to walk out of the park, drawing immediate concerns in the camp.

As per reports, a scan has confirmed a calf injury and she will be continuously monitored by the medical team. The all-rounder had earlier suffered a similar calf injury during the domestic Women’s One-Day cup in April forcing her to back out from the National side for England’s bilateral series against India and New Zealand.

The ECB issued an official statement, saying, “Following a scan on Wednesday and further assessment by the England medical team, she will be unavailable for next two fixtures against Scotland and West Indies.” In her absence, England’s Vice-Captain, Charlie Dean will lead the side, the ECB statement further said.

England is placed in Group B and they will next face Scotland at Headingley on Saturday and then take on the 2016 champions, West Indies at Lord’s  on June 24.
