Juventus Set to Sign Newcastle United’s Nick Woltemade on Loan

Italian football club Juventus have agreed to a season-long loan for the Newcastle United forward, Nick Woltemade. It has been one of the many clubs from the continent that were interested to sign the 24-year-old before the end of the transfer deadline on Tuesday.

Woltemade was brought to Newcastle from Stuttgart in August 2025 and he is now all set to travel to Turin for a medical after a deal worth £3.5m deal was finalised between the two clubs. It should be noted that the deal does not include an option to make it permanent.

Although Woltemade came off the bench to set up Yoane Wissa’s goal in Newcastle’s 2-0 win against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday, the club’s £69m record signing has only featured in the starting line-up only thrice since the new manager Matthias Jaissle took over the side.

Juventus had been searching for a forward as Jonathan David looks set to depart the team and join Atletico Madrid on loan. Before closing the Woltemade deal, the Italian side was also in talks with Manchester United to sign striker Joshua Zirkee, however, the deal was not completed.

Juventus, however, feel that Woltemade is a better fit for the club, and more importantly, he came at a much lower price for the club. Additionally, the agreement with New Castle does not include the obligation-to-buy clause, which Manchester United wanted to have with Zirkee.

According to BBC Sports’ previous reports Newcastle’s move for Lillee forward Matias Fernandez-Padro could pave the way for Woltemade to join the Serie A side. Fernandez-Padro flew into Tyneside on Monday evening to finalise the move worth up to £55m.
