Liverpool has completed all the formalities of signing the French defender, Jeremy Jacquet from Ligue 1 side, Rennes.
The English Premier League Club secured the deal for the France under-21 international’s transfer earlier this year. The 20-year-old, Jacquet, who plays center-back at Rennes was signed for a reported fee of 70 million euros, which is roughly equivalent to $80 million.
Speaking about the transfer, Liverpool spokesperson said, “he joins the club on a long-term contract.” Currently nursing a shoulder injury, Jacquet has made 33 senior appearances so far with the Brittany side.
Talking about his transfer to the English top team, he said, “a club like Liverpool, it is a big dream for me.” He also added that he expects to get fully fit before the start of the preseason. “I feel much improved,” he said. “I was given the go-ahead to start a program of training with the group at Rennes, but it was a little too late to be with the team. But with continued hard work, I will be fully fit before the season.”
