Nitish Kumar Reddy Ruled Out of India's T20I Series Against England and Ireland
Nitish Kumar Reddy has been ruled out of India's Twenty20 international series against Ireland and England due to injury, the country's cricket board (BCCI) said on Tuesday. Suryansh Shedge has been named as his replacement
Indian all-rounder, Nitish Kumar Reddy who was earlier selected to be part of the Indian squad touring to Ireland and England for the T20 series, has now been ruled out due to an injury, the Board of Control for Cricket in India confirmed.
Suyansh Shedge has been named as his replacement. The Mumbai-born player, Shedge, will fill-in all-rounder’s shoes in the Indian team after Reddy’s absence left India short of a genuine and frontline pace-bowling all-rounder for the series.
Although the exact nature and the intensity of the injury to Reddy is not known, the 23-year-old all-rounder from Hyderabad has reported discomfort on his left quadriceps after the third one-day international against Afghanistan that concluded recently, said BCCI.
Reddy has been advised to undergo a period of rehabilitation, and depending on his recovery and fitness he may be considered to join the Indian team for the England T20 series. Shedge, also a 23-year-old, batting all-rounder got the call-up to the Indian following his stellar performance in the five match tri-series in Sri Lanka for India A.
India face Ireland in a two-match T20 series in Belfast, starting from June 26 and the second match to be played on Sunday, June 28 before travelling to England for a 5-match T20s starting in July.
