Rohit Sharma Arrives in London Early to Prepare for England ODI Series
Former team India captain, Rohit Sharma has arrived in London a few days earlier than the rest of his team members arrive to begin preparations for the three-match one-day internationals series against England, which gets underway from Jul 14, 2026.
According to TimesofIndia.com, since he landed on the English shores, Rohit has already had a couple of full-fledged training sessions at local clubs in and around London along with his few close friends and local club bowlers.
His first destination was the Slough Cricket Club, which is located in the heart of Berkshire before he eventually moved to the Swyncombe Cricket Club near Blondin Park. Sharma, who now only plays one format, i.e., the 50-over format wanted to get acclamatised to the English conditions before he joins the team in Birmingham.
The veteran player is well aware of all the challenges that awaits him playing the English conditions and he wants to ensure that he is fully ready before the series gets underway. The 39-year-old loves playing cricket in England and has a phenomenal record here.
In the 27 matches he has played in England, the Hitman has amassed over 1400 runs at an impressive average of 64.9. He also has hit seven hundred here, which is the most by any batter from a visiting team.
Recently, Rohit has been missing in action and he did not play much cricket because of the injury to his hamstring, which he picked before the start of the ODI series against Afghanistan at home. However, he still managed to play in the tournament, and finished the assignment with a 79-run inning at Chennai. It was not one of his best or the most fluent innings that we all have seen off him but he looked confident and in great shape in the middle.
Going into the ODI-series against England, India will definitely need all its experienced players, especially the top-order batter to come good. The batters have failed to get themselves acclamatised to the English conditions, which is quite evident in the on-going T20I series.
There were some concerns about Rohit’s fitness before the start of the Afghanistan series but batted and fielded well without showing no signs of discomfort and he is believed to be in top physical condition ahead of the three matches in Birmingham, Cardiff and London.
