Subhadeep Ghosh Replaces T Dilip as Team India's Fielding Coach: All You Need to Know

Indian men’s cricket team is set to have a new face in its support staff as Subhadeep Ghosh has been appointed as the new fielding coach following the exit of T Dilip. The Board of Control for Cricket in India decided not to extend Dilip’s contract after it ended following India's white ball tour of England.

For Subhadeep this is the first time he will be working with the senior national team and his stint as the team India’s coach will begin with the two-match test series against Sri Lanka in the island nation in August.

Subhadeep Ghosh, who has been appointed as the new fielding coach of team India after the exit of T Dilip is a former domestic player who represented mostly in Assam. Born in Digboi, Assam, he played as the middle-order batter and also bowled right arm off spin.

During his playing career, he played for Assam and Railways in the domestic circuit. He featured in about 17 first class matches and 17 List games and he scored 316 and 307 runs respectively. He made his debut in both formats of the game during the 1994-95 season.

He played his first-class match in 2004 and one year later he ended his List A career in 2005. After hanging his boots as a player, Ghosh, almost immediately took up a career as a coach and he became part of India’s cricket development structure.

He has been associated with the NCA (National Cricket Academy) for the last six to seven years he also also worked closely with the former Team India captain and coach Rahul Dravid during his tenure at the NCAs the Head of Cricket.

Over the years, Ghosh gained experience working with different Indian teams across age groups. He was the fielding coach of the Indian women’s team during their tour of Australia in 202. He has also been associated with India A and the India under-19 team, including the 2024 Under-19 world cup campaign in South Africa.

In the IPL, Ghosh was part of the Kolkata Knight Riders support staff in 2024, when the franchise won its second title and later went to work as the fielding coach of Delhi Capitals.
