US Open 2026 Withdrawal List Widens: Alcaraz and Sinner’s Participation Status Remain Uncertain

US Open 2026 Withdrawal List Widens: Alcaraz and Sinner’s Participation Status Remain Uncertain

The Cincinnati Open 2026 is underway and both the men and women are battling it out on the North American hard court and getting ready for the final major event of the calendar year, the US Open Grand Slam.

In Cincinnati several top ranked players are gearing up to fine tune their game and peak at the right time for the Flushing Meadows event. However, some of the top stars may not be appearing in New York for the final major of the year; nine players have so far been confirmed to pull out of the event.

Eight of those stars have come on the WTA tour, led by the likes of the British sensation, Emma Raducanu, Victoria Mboko, and Hailey Baptiste. All these women will be missing in action at the US Open 2026. Mboko and Batiste both are out due to knee injuries, which they suffered earlier this year. Raducanu has been suffering from a stress fracture for a while now and she even missed the Wimbledon earlier this year.

Here is a full list of stars who have withdrawn from the US Open

  • Victoria Mboko, she will be replaced by Mananchaya Sawangkaew
  • Hailey Baptiste, she will be replaced by Kaitlin Quevedo
  • Emma Raducanu, she will be replaced by Anna Blinkova
  • Ajla Tomljanovic, she will be replaced by Ella Seidel
  • Varvara Gracheva, she will be replaced by Anastasia Zakharova
  • Irina-Camelia Begu, she will be replaced by Elsa Jacquemot
  • Jaqueline Cristian, she will be replaced by Darja Vidmanova
  • Laura Siegemund, she will be replaced by Nadia Podoroska

On the ATP Tour Side, only Sebastian Korda is confirmed to miss the final Grand Slam of the year. The American has been missing in action since the Miami Open and he has confirmed at the beginning of the month that he has undergone a back surgery for the injury he suffered earlier in the year.

Speaking about his injury on social media, Korda said, “It has been 4 months off-court managing pain in my back with a lot of pressure on my sciatica. After different treatments we decided to have a swift surgery that has finally relieved the pain. What a relief. Massive thank you to Dr. Qureshi and his team. Now it is time to recover, heal and get back to work. Thanks everyone for the support. See you all soon.”

Although Corda is the only men’s player to confirm his exit from the US open, rumours are rife more players could miss out. And among the big names are Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner as there seems to be a doubt looming over their heads about their availability to play at the Flushing Meadows.

Alcaraz seems to be in a race against time to recover from his wrist injury that has kept him out for five months now. Meanwhile, Sinner is also battling with a knee injury and he has not played a single tournament in North American ahead of the Grand Slam.

Holger Rune could also potentially miss out as he is trying hard to return to action after an ACL injury that he suffered at the Stockholm open in October last year. The Danish player has till now refused to withdraw from the US Open, and he has been training together with Alcaraz in Murcia. So there are chances that these two men could play in the US Open 2026.
