Is Michael Carrick Staying at Manchester United? Latest Update Ahead of Bournemouth Clash
Manchester United are preparing for Sunday's Bournemouth fixture as usual, with under-fire boss Michael Carrick expected to remain in charge for the Premier League clash.
Manchester United have confirmed that the team manager, Michael Carrick will continue to remain in charge of the team’s game on Sunday against Bournemouth in the Premier League. The club has confirmed that they will hold a pre-match conference on Friday afternoon and indicated that Carrick will carry on with the team and that he will not be sacked as the boss, following the team’s poor performance so far in the league and suffering a humiliating 4-1 defeat against Como on Wednesday.
So, United has won only two games this season and they are on a run of seven matches without sealing a win. They are currently languishing at 13th place in the Premier League, and lie at 20th position in the Champions League table; they are also knocked out of the Carabao Cup.
United Captain Bruno Fernandes has criticised Carrick’s tactics and particularly the way the team was told to press in Como, a week after defender Lisandro Martinez launched an attack on sporting director Jason Wilcox. Speaking about the team's performance in Como, Carrick said it was unacceptable and that he was angry after it.
The former Manchester United midfielder issued an apology to all the supporters of the team who travelled to Como and said, United’s defeat was ‘not about me.’ United players had a pre-planned day off on Thursday but it is reported that the team will report to Carrington for a training session on Friday, when Carrick will hold his pre-match press conference in the afternoon.
After facing Bournemouth at the Old Trafford, the team will travel to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea next Saturday. They will then host Roma in the Champions League game and Aston Villa in the Premier League before the international break.
